How my sporting journey began

My first love in sport was gymnastics.

I feel this is where I get my foundation of strength from.

I began Weightlifting August 2014, this is when Dave Sawyer encouraged me to try a weightlifting competition. The first competition I entered as a 53kg lifter but weighed in at 50.8kg which helped make the decision to drop down further to the 48kg category. After competing in my first 48kg competition I qualified for the English and British Championships.

After around 6 months of training the chance of competing in the next Commonwealth Games was suggested to me.

I train on my own the majority of the time, but I have been dedicated enough to travel 200miles a week to train at ATLAS weightlifting warehouse, with Dave Sawyer and Cyril Martin who are both GB weightlifting coaches. These coaches and my family support helped to make my dreams come true. Three and a half years of training gave me the platform to gain a spot on Team England for the Commonwealth Games 2018.
